Grand Screen Journal

Write for us

Grand Screen Journal welcomes considered proposals about screen storytelling and film craft, from a sharply observed scene to a useful account of a screen tradition. Send proposals through the Contact page; a clear, focused pitch is more helpful than a finished manuscript.

What we welcome

We are interested in distinct, evergreen subjects involving images, performance, sound, editing or screen history. A strong contribution gives readers a fresh way to notice how a screen story works, while remaining accessible to people without specialist training.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the central question, the main point you would develop and why it suits Grand Screen Journal. Name the kind of examples or material you expect to use, and note any factual or interpretive limits that matter. Keep the scope narrow enough for one focused piece.

Sending a proposal

Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a short summary and any relevant writing sample or outline in your message. Please do not send confidential material or assume that a proposal has been accepted before we reply.

Our point of view

A closer look changes the view

Grand Screen Journal pays attention to the small choices that shape a screen story. You need no specialist vocabulary to notice what a frame, a pause or a change of sound can do.
